Comparison and contrast

A Rose for Emily and The Fall of the House of Usher are short stories written by great authors. One was written by Willian Faulkner and one by Edgar Alllan Poe. Both of these authors are known for the way they write, they both have that mistery style in common and there are going to be more things in common if we compare two stories in which the house play the roles of a character and a place of development. The similarities are obvious such as theme and ambient and even genre are the same. Therefore the great difference will be mentioned.
The Period in where the story is developed is different. In the Faulkner's story the period is set to the1900s whereas in Poe’s story doesnt have a timeline. It didn’t have any clues as in what period  the story was developed. The castle in Usher it was clear that it was old but there isn’t any data that put pre 1900 or even post 1900. So Poe leave that a mystery. There’s a contrast in the living character. The sexes are different in each. In the Faulkner story a women is the main character and a man is the victim but in the other hand we have Mr. Poe’s story where we have the male main character and a woman as the victim of the main. Both stories put the victim in a morbid state in one the victim actually dies but in the other one the victim is treated and taken away as if she would be dead.
The two stories are basically twins in ambient and style but the plot is different. Both author are well renowned in the same genre and that’s visible in these two stories. Seeing two different author using a house as a character and frame to a story and managing to get across more or less the same topic of unstable people and mentally unhealthy conduct is surprising. A Rose for Emily and The Fall of the House of Usher are extremely alike reading one get across the same message as reading the other.
